The Importance of Pre-natal Care for Baton Rouge Parents

Whether it’s your first child or your third, having a baby is a special moment in any parent’s life. Pregnancy invites images of baby clothes and color choices for the baby’s room, but it also forces parents to look further down the road. Of all the decisions you will make for the health and future of your child, choosing a pediatrician might just be the most important.

When you select a pediatrician, you’re not choosing a doctor. You’re choosing a path, one your child will take for the better part of two decades. It’s important that you as parents feel comfortable around your pediatrician, pre-natal care specialists and other professionals involved in your child’s health care. We offer free pre-natal care visits to give moms- and dads-to-be an opportunity to see if Fertile Crescent is the right fit.

Dr. Despinasse stresses the importance of pre-natal care and newborn screening for expecting parents. If you are pregnant and have not yet contacted a physician for an initial pre-natal care checkup, it is a good idea that you do so as soon as you can. Most doctors recommend the first visit sometime between six and eight weeks of pregnancy.

If you choose Fertile Crescent Pediatrics, simply inform your obstetrician that you would like to designate Dr. Despinasse as your pediatrician (read our FAQ for more delivery information).

Schedule your meeting with Dr. Despinasse today to discuss your child’s health and future.
